Create a new story
This year so many great events in Charlottesville, like the CBIC Tech Tour, Girls' Geek Days and SPARK! Hackathon, that help young people learn new CS skills, connect with role models in computing and get behind-the-scenes of what it's like to work in tech have been postponed or cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, the middle and high school youth in our region need to see a path forward to their future in Charlottesville and beyond. A lack of role models has been cited as one of the main structural barriers impacting students interest in computer science and technology.
During this year's Hour of Code, Tech-Girls is excited to launch Create a New Story in collaboration with Charlottesville Business Innovation Council and SPARK! CS powered by St. Anne's-Belfield School to help students "see themselves" in this field. Learn what it's like to work in tech from local tech professionals and then create tech to tell your story!
