2017 - A Year in review

Tech-Girls offers programs across the K-12 spectrum. The focus through all the opportunities we offer girls in the community is to spark interest, build confidence, nurture an inclusive community and help girls develop their own tech identity. Here are some highlights from 2017!
  • Over 365 girls participated in six Girls’ Geek Day sessions held in elementary schools all around Albemarle county!
  • 15 young women from eight schools around the region participated in the 4th annual Bio-Med Tech-Girls program.
  • Over 150 girls joined mentors and role models throughout the region, including 30 workshop facilitators, 35 community members and 25 student volunteers at the She Started It ESTEAM Summit!
  • The Yes We Tech! workshop series geared toward girls in middle school was kicked off.
  • Tech-Girls collaborated and worked with many other organizations including Albemarle High School, AHS SWENext, Battelle Foundation Women's STEM Forum, Broadus Wood Elementary School, Cale Elementary School, Charlottesville Business Innovation Council, Computers4Kids, Crozet Elementary School, ESTEAM Summit, Greer Robotics Club, i.Lab at UVA, Junior League of Charlottesville, Meriwether Lewis Elementary School, Piedmont Student Rocketry Club, She Started It, St. Anne’s-Belfield School, TomTom Founders Festival, UVA Department of Biomedical Engineering, UVA Ladies in the Lab, UVA MARS, UVA SWE UVA Young Women's Leadership Program and WAHS Robotics Club.
