A recent research study from Europe "found that the number of girls taking STEM subjects drops by 18% between school and university". According to the research report, one problem is that girls are not encouraged by parents, peers, or teachers to take part in STEM subjects. Another problem is exposure to both conscious and unconscious bias in STEM fields.
